Driver Safety
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 2,400 deaths a year result from occupational motor vehicle accidents. While fatal highway incidents remain the most frequent type of fatal work-related event, accounting for nearly one out of four fatal work injuries, the number of highway incidents fell eight percent in 2006. Motor vehicle accidents are a leading cause of death and injury for all ages.
Upon completion of this learning event, the Learner will demonstrate knowledge of safe driving habits and defensive driving methods. Employees will learn how to recognize accident prevention and safe driving habits, identify different road hazards, and recognize hazardous driving behavior in themselves and others. There are no specific training requirements for employers to train their employees before they are allowed to drive a company vehicle. This course covers basic driving hazards and the importance of staying awake and alert at all times to traffic laws and your surroundings.

Target Audience: This course is intended for general-industry employees who, in the course of regular work duties, are required to operate a motor vehicle on public roads.
