Delivery Driver Safety

Work-related vehicle accidents remain the leading cause of employee death, comprising about one-quarter of all workplace deaths. Many times, delivery drivers are given minimal, informal instruction before company vehicles are released to them. Grocers and other industries commonly require employee training with machinery and equipment such as forklifts, meat slicers, band saws, grinders, bailers, and compactors. So why not consider providing safety training, policies, and procedures for delivery vehicles?

Upon completion of this learning event, the learner will display the ability to identify hazards associated with working as a delivery driver, and identify safe work practices used to eliminate, minimize or avoid those hazards. There are no training requirements specific to "delivery drivers". However, if a company has drivers making deliveries as part of their day-to-day work routine, this course would serve well to educate employees over the hazards and how to keep up with the demands of being a delivery driver and how to do it safely.
