Carbon Footprint Reduction

A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact our activities have on the environment, and in particular climate change. It relates to the amount of greenhouse gases produced in our day-to-day lives through burning fossil fuels for electricity, heating and transportation etc. The carbon footprint is a measurement of all greenhouse gases we individually produce. There are two major motivations for companies to make a reduction in their carbon footprint. The first is the real financial benefit that comes from efficient energy use. The second is the sense of social responsibility that comes from doing right by the planet.

Upon completion of this learning event, the Learner will understand the basic concept of carbon footprint reduction and common methods for reducing the carbon footprint of their workplace or home. There are no training requirements for Carbon Footprint Reduction, however this course would be a useful tool for educating employees on how to be environmentally responsible and the importance and benefits of doing so.
