Waste Collector Safety
Waste collection has historically been a dangerous job. The overall safety of the job has improved in the last ten to fifteen years as more trucks have been equipped with mechanical collection arms that minimize the collector’s exposure to physical hazards outside the truck. Even so, waste collection still carries a number of hazards that training in safe work practices can minimize.
This course is designed to educate waste and refuse collectors about the hazards of the job. This course can be used as a tool to help keep employees safe and aware of the risks of being careless on the job. Upon completion of this learning event, the Learner will know how to identify the common physical and health hazards associated with municipal waste collection and how to minimize or eliminate them.
