Municipal Worker Safety Training

Nearly 863,000 injury and illness cases were reported among State and local municipal workers combined in 2009, resulting in a rate of 5.8 cases per 100 workers--significantly higher than the rate among private industry workers (3.6 cases per 100 workers) [bls.gov]. States that operate their own workplace safety and health program approved by the U.S. Department of Labor are required to extend their coverage to public sector workers in the state [osha.gov]. This course series will focus on some of the municipal departments in the public sector along with the hazards and injury prevention associated with them.
