Description

Flammable liquids are any liquid having a flashpoint below 100 degrees F while combustible liquids are any liquid having a flashpoint at or above 100 degrees F. To prevent fires or explosions, the hazardous liquids need special precautions taken for their storage, handling, and use.

This course covers the basic regulations concerning flammable and combustible liquids outlined in 29 CFR 1910.106. The regulations do not outline any training requirements. Upon completion of this learning event, the Learner will demonstrate knowledge of different flammable and combustible liquid hazards and how to minimize or eliminate those hazards. Employees will learn how to identify flammable and combustible liquid hazards with Material Safety Data Sheets, and how to select hazard prevention measures. Workplace specific information will need to be provided by the employer. The employer may also be interested in the following courses: Hazard Communication, Material Safety Data Sheets, Basic Chemical Safety Awareness, Fire Safety for Employees, and Portable Fire Extinguishers.
