Slips, Trips and Falls
OSHA states that slips, trips, and falls constitute the majority of general industry accidents. These incidients cause 15% of all accidental deaths, and are second only to motor vehicles as a cause of fatalities. The OSHA standards for walking/working surfaces apply to all permanent places of employment, except where only domestic, mining, or agricultural work is performed.
In this course, employees will learn to identify general OSHA safety requirements, guarding for floor and wall openings, issues with stairways, ladder, scaffolds, loading docks and how personal behavior affects safety. There are no specific training requirements for General Industry, however 29 CFR 1926.1060 requires employers to establish a training program over the safe use of ladders. This course can help employers to fulfill that requirement, but should be used in conjunction with conventional training over company specific policy and specific workplace hazards. The employer may also be interested in the Job Safety Analysis and Fall Protection courses.
