Hearing Conservation (Oil & Gas)

Thirty million American workers are exposed to hazardous noise levels, and of those, ten million will suffer from hearing loss. Because of the nature of the work, oil and gas production and exploration employees face a greater risk of noise-related hearing loss. This course is designed to provide the learner with the knowledge and skills needed to protect hearing while working at oil and gas production and exploration field sites.

The course covers the training requirements for hearing protection as stated in 1910.95(k). Some examples are the information of how noise affects hearing and the purpose of using hearing protection as well as how to use it. When this course is over, the learner should be able to define noise and noise levels, describe hearing loss and OSHA’s provisions to prevent it, recognize personal hearing protection devices and their differences.
