Course Highlight: Performing Safety Audits

A safety audit is a process that identifies health and safety hazards, assesses the effectiveness of the measures in place to control those hazards, and ensures compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Administration’s (OSHA) standards. The latest statistics show that there were just over three million reportable nonfatal injuries and illnesses within private organizations. These reported incidents could have been prevented, and safety audits play a major role in prevention efforts and boost safety culture in the workplace. Safety audits can help employers and their employees identify existing workplace hazards and create appropriate controls to prevent injury or illness. Because safety audits can also help to mitigate legal risks and create better efficiencies, they are an essential component of any safety program.

Performing safety audits is an appropriate course for all workers and supervisors in general, construction, oil and gas, and other industrial and office settings. These microlearning courses do not address any specific OSHA training requirements, but are instead based on industry best practices and accepted methods for performing effective safety audits.

For more than 30 years, SafetySkills has been working with customers around the world to implement health and safety training programs and offers a full-suite of safety management tools, including those necessary for effective safety audits.
